“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things and by your will they existed and were created.” Rev. 4:11

Men’s Ministry at North Shore Church
11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Tim 6:11-12
Most biblical scholars today suggest that Timothy – the recipient of Paul’s letters of the same name – was a man who lived in what we now know as modern-day Turkey and became one of Paul’s trusted partners in establishing the early church. Paul greets Timothy as a “true son in the faith” 1 Tim 1:2. Timothy was not an overseer of the local church from what we know, but rather, just a guy steadfast in his faith and growing in his walk with the Lord and likely dealing with many of the same issues of our fallen world that our men from North Shore experience today. Paul’s letters to Timothy provide us with some of the most clear, concise biblical guidance on manhood and masculinity in Christ’s Church. The bible is clear that true biblical manhood – pursuing holiness while retaining masculinity – is an essential element of healthy churches, healthy families, healthy communities.
At North Shore Church our passion for spiritual maturity will be limited if the men in the church are not growing spiritually. As those whom God has called to provide sacrificial, servant leadership in their homes and church, it’s crucial that the men of our church are equipped to live faithfully to Christ.
To that end, our Men’s Ministry at North Shore seeks to provide opportunities and structure that fosters interaction among our men. We seek to get to know one another, create mentoring opportunities, develop disciplines to study God’s word and to share life during moments of fellowship. The intent is to not simply have an event-based men’s ministry – but in reality, events provide the setting and structure for us to interact. A few of the key events are noted below:
The Men’s Huddle has been happening in the Fireside Room at North Shore. We start every Saturday at 8 AM sharp and wrap up before 9:30. Expect great conversation, sharing, fellowship and prayer accompanied by coffee, doughnuts, and recently, a pancake breakfast! We’re typically have a short video on a specific biblical topic followed by discussion, sharing and prayer. Need more info? Contact Scott Bird or Lee Greenwood.
Men’s Bible Study and Fellowship currently meets on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Currently, we in a study of the Book of Romans. We’re utilizing resources from our recently-launched RightNow Media subscription and will use J D Greear video series and study guides. Contact Greg Horvath if you want more details. And don’t worry – you’re not behind – you can join any time.
Men’s Discipleship Groups are a collection small groups of men who meet to study and unpack select bible verses. Currently we have 3 groups meeting under the leadership of our Elders but more groups can easily be formed. Connect with Pastor Duncan if you are interested in joining or forming a discipleship group.
We also have some annual events men can look forward to. Fall Men’s Retreat is held at Camp Bird in Crivitz WI, the last weekend in September. This is a great weekend of study, sharing, eating, relaxing and just hanging out strengthening current relationships and starting new ones. The guys also enjoy gathering at our Men’s Steak Fry Picnic held the first Thursday evening of June at Henes Park here in Menominee.
If you have any questions on Men’s Ministry here at North Shore please connect with anyone of the Men’s Ministry team members noted below. Fear not guys – all these events are easy to test drive and connect with. We’d love to see you at one or more of our events and, many of them are very suitable for your early-teen+ sons. Please join us – Let’s gather to nurture and support the men of North Shore, to draw ever-closer to Christ, to live authentic Christian lives and be or become leaders within our families, our church and our community.
